How Digestive Enzymes Work
Each digestive enzyme works to digest something different. There are enzymes that break down fats, enzymes that break down carbohydrates, enzymes that break down protein, dairy, and so on. For example, if you are going to feed a pet cooked carbohydrates (potato, rice, quinoa, pumpkin) you need to add back the enzyme to digest it. In fact with all the different food ingredients in modern pet foods today it takes a blend of fourteen to sixteen different enzymes to completely digest all the ingredients in that pet’s meal.
