Shareable snacks for you and your dog

enzymes for dogs

Beach days, backyard barbecues, and trips to the lake call for yummy snacks that refresh and energize. You’ll love these simple snacks that can be eaten alone, or shared with a friend!

Coconut

Coconut is the perfect sprinkle for your dog’s food and great for making treats. Give coconut chips a try too. Coconut contains medium-chain saturated fats, which are transformed into energy and contain special properties that act as anti-inflammatory agents to decrease bacterial growth, irritation and inflammation in the body. Choose a coconut that is organic and unsweetened.

Carob chips

Carob is rich in natural sugars and contains all the principal vitamins and minerals, such as calcium, phosphorus, iron, potassium, magnesium, silica, vitamins A, B1, B2, niacin, and protein, and is perfectly safe for dogs. Its vitamin E supports skin health, and it has antiviral and antibacterial properties. Carob contains no oxalic acid, so it does not interfere with calcium absorption. Carob is great for calming an upset tummy. (Bonus: This great ingredient is in our Total-Zymes® PLUS™ tabs for small pets and large pets.

Blueberries

A whole food diet that includes fresh blueberries can be a great way to provide your dog with mini-powerhouses of vitamins minerals and antioxidants which help support detoxification and stress. Wild blueberries have even more valuable polyphenols than cultivated blueberries do. Simply add a few to food before serving, or use as a treat!

Dog-friendly fruits

Tip: Before grocery shopping this week, pick up some fruits that you can share with your dog. Try apples, bananas, oranges, kiwis, cantaloupe, watermelon, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries.
